Ganderbal, Dec 11 (KNO): The ongoing drainage work in Wakura area of Central Kashmir's Ganderbal district has failed to prevent water from overflowing onto the road, posing significant risks to both commuters and bike riders.
Despite ongoing construction to improve the drainage system, the heavy water flow has resulted in inundation of streets, which is further exacerbated by freezing temperatures.
The overflow has created a hazardous situation, as the standing water on the roads quickly turns into ice, making it slippery and dangerous for vehicles and pedestrians.
Motorcycle riders are particularly at risk due to the icy conditions, which have caused several near-misses and accidents in the area.
Local residents while talking to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) have expressed concern over the drainage issues, urging authorities to expedite the repair work and take immediate measures to prevent further accidents.
Meanwhile, the authorities have assured the public that the situation is being closely monitored and that necessary actions will be taken to resolve the issue as soon as possible—(KNO)
